I have noticed that the Y value of 'Position and Rotation' does not always update when changing the height of the track just placed (R key and up / down arrow on numeric keypad)
I wanted to know how to make sure that this variation is always reported or you need to intervene programmatically

The R key is for rotation.
One end of the track won't change height, it stays where you put it.
Elevation is shown on the left as permille or percent.
